Lexi has always been drawn to entertainment. Her early passion for theater led to several GROUNDLINGS and UPRIGHT CITIZENS BRIGADE classes, which have complimented her recent paid internship at SATURDAY NIGHT LIVE during the 40th anniversary season. While still in High School, Lexi pitched pilots to both DISNEY and ABC FAMILY, one of which became her first feature screenplay sale to the independent film company MEDIA SPARKS ENTERTAINMENT. She also interned at the WRITERS GUILD OF AMERICA, WEST, learning what it was like to be a working professional in the business and easily held her own with the veterans in the room.
She discovered her talent for directing while at SAINT ANDREWS UNIVERSITY summer school in Scotland and won Best Picture Award for her short film "Running in Love". But she also pursued her writing while in the Creative Writing Program at HARVARD UNIVERSITY the following summer. Knowing this was her career path, and wanting the benefits of being bi-coastal, Lexi left LA to study Writing and Directing for Film and TV at NEW YORK UNIVERSITY. Along with her recent internship at SNL, Lexi gained valuable hands-on experience as a Production Intern at TBS's CONAN show back in LA, and as an Executive Intern at the TRIBECA FILM CENTER/FESTIVAL.
Lexi took advantage of her time in New York to get real experience working as a writer/director outside of the classroom. Her first narrative short film SUBMERGED won Best Student Film at the Rockport Film Festival, and was officially selected into many other festivals across the nation. At the LA Femme Film Festival, hers was selected as the only short film screened prior to the marquee feature at the Awards Ceremony, and Lexi was selected by the SHORTS HD TV Channel to be featured as a young filmmaker in their documentary about the festival.
She became a freelance director for online media and fashion giant BEAUTY WITHIN TV, directing coverage for runway shows and behind the scenes footage of photo shoots. Lexi also worked professionally during her semester abroad in Prague, directing online commercials for the RETRO RIVERSIDE HOTEL spa and inn in the famous town of Karlovy Vary. Lexi graduated May 2015 with honors from NYU Gallatin and completed her senior thesis film, BOUND. She just completed her first non-student project, CARGO, which is a politically relevant action thriller based on the information revolution happening in North Korea and in other oppressed and censored regions of the world.
Lexi is a committed and hard working writer/director for film and television. She is excited to see where her career takes her in the future (especially with Liza!) and couldn't be happier with the progress she's made already.
